If you look closely on one of the sourceforge wiki pages you'll see a reference to the database hostname being "mysql-" where is the first letter of your project. Once I set this in the wp-config.php the install completed correctly. It took me awhile to track this down. I followed your directions, but I'm getting an error that the username or password don't exist, or that there may not be a server at 'localhost.'
